You may spot a world famous author in one of the many cafes in the borough, scribbling notes for her latest blockbuster.

Sophie Kinsella revealed she and husband Henry can be spotted in Cannizaro House in Wimbledon Common, drinking cocktails and working through plot holes together.

The Wimbledon-based author of the highly successful Shopaholic series said also she enjoys sitting in Le Pain Quotidian in Wimbledon Village to write.

Speaking to the Wimbledon Guardian at the Wimbledon BookFest earlier this month with local author Penny Vincenzi, Kinsella said when she gets stuck she enjoys striding out onto the common to clear her mind.

Speaking about why the area attracts so many writers, she said: "I think the fact it’s so green is a real help.

"Something that I think all authors do is when things get a bit stuck in the plot is go for a walk and I think being able to stride out on Wimbledon Common is a real refreshing and inspiring thing to do rather than trudging around the streets.

"I spend an awful lot of time writing in coffee shops and researching and thinking and going round from coffee shop to coffee shop."

As a keen member of the Westside Lawn Tennis Club in Woodhayes Road, Kinsella said she finds it hard to fit hobbies in around her full-time writing and five children.

"I'm good at joining things and I'm not so good at seeing it through," she admitted.

Her latest novel - Shopaholic to the Stars takes main character Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood far away from SW19 to the glitzy world of Hollywood.

The story was inspired by Kinsella’s time spent in the Los Angeles film world advising on the production of Confessions of a Shopaholic, released in 2009 after 10 years in the making.

Kinsella said: "It’s her finding her feet really. I’ve spent time in L.A and I've been involved in film and all the time I was doing these things I kept thinking what would Becky make of this, and I could just see Becky in all the places I was - on the film set or on the red carpet."

She added: "It was a fascinating world to be in.

"You don't often get the chance to be in the centre of a great big Hollywood high budget film. I had to grab that opportunity."

Shopaholic to the Stars is out now.
