Two young women will don animal onesies for a sponsored walk to give one of London’s oldest community farms an early Christmas present.
Hannah Crutcher, 19, from New Malden and Rachael Blair, 21, hope to raise £500 for Deen City Farm in Wimbledon.
The best friends who say they ‘are not the most fit people’ will complete the nine mile walk on Saturday, December 13.
Miss Crutcher said: "When it comes to walking we try to avoid it. But we see how much the farm provides to people who come here."
The girls would like to see funds raised go towards renovating the chicken village and new wheelbarrows.
The pair became friends at the farm, where Miss Blair goes five days a week as part of her college diploma in animal care.
Miss Crutcher, who has volunteered at the farm for more than a year, hopes to use her diploma in animal management to open an animal sanctuary.
The girl’s fundraising appeal, which has been running for just a few days, has already raised over £240.
