A man is recovering in hospital after being found unconscious with a large head wound outside the Odeon cinema at the weekend.

Three men were arrested in Queens Road, Wimbledon, after the victim was discovered unconscious and with a wound on his forehead in the street by police on Sunday night.

Merton Council’s CCTV operators alerted officers after they witnessed the serious assault outside the Odeon in The Broadway just before 11pm.

Paramedics took the 30 year-old man to a south London hospital where he is still being treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Three men, two 26-year-olds and a 22-year-old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and were taken to Wimbledon police station.

All three were later bailed to a date in June.

Police said enquiries are continuing to establish what happened.
