Gunman shoots at police on Morden Road

A gunman opened fire on police officers last night.
Police have cordoned off the area of Morden Road Mitcham near London Road and St Helier Avenue near the Sutton border and are searching for the man who shot at police in an incident last night.
It is understood a uniformed patrol attempted to stop a man at 8.40pm last night when he produced a handgun.
The man ran but turned and fired at shot at the police officers. No-one was injured in the shooting.
Morden Road remains closed in both directions and there are likely to be severe delays.
