Following on from recent successes at both the Surrey County and Welsh Indoor Championships, Sutton & District AC athletes competed at the England Indoor Championships last weekend.

Notable performances came from Lucy Hoad, who ran a personal best of 7.73 seconds in the semi-final of the U17 60m, only to miss out on the final by one thousandth of a second.

She again ran a massive PB of 24.87secs in the 200m semi-final to qualify for the final, where she finished fifth.

From the field events, both Shaye Emmett and Jacob Veerapen just missed out on medals by finishing fourth on the U20 pole vault and U20 triple jump respectively.

Jake Field, who ran in the 60m, again did well to finish sixth in the U20 high jump with Georgia Duthie, at her first national championships, acquitting herself well with seventh place in the U15 pole vault.

Other competitors: Georgia Duthie (U15 pole vault; 60m hurdles); Madeleine Sketchley (U17 pole vault); Sophie Henlon (U17 60m, 200m); Nicole Okologume (U17 60m, 200m); Andrew Enchill (U17 triple jump).
